How To Break Free From Business Failure

Failure is an extraordinary enemy. It plays unfairly. It gets in your mind. Failure is notorious for its stealthy ability to get lock you into a downward death spiral.  And your business failure (or success) is a direct result of your failure mindset.

How Failure Works

You try something for the first time and fail to succeed. That’s when failure plants a seed in your mind – that little inner voice – telling you it was inevitable. Then the next time you try you are predisposed to failure, since your internal voice reminds you of the last failed attempt. The next time you try, your internal voice is so outspoken about your past failures that you believe in advance you will fail creating a self fulfilling prophecy. We are who we think we are. Good or bad, if we believe it, we are it.

The Inner Voice

That inner voice is a powerful little bugger and determines both your failures and successes. Unfortunately most of us talk and think about failure far more than we ever talk about success. According to Switch by Dan & Chip Heath, of the 24 most common emotion words we use, only 6 of them are positive! No wonder we so easily get trapped in failure, our inner voices talk about it constantly.

Break Free

The way to break free from failure is simple. Not easy, but simple. It is all contingent upon your inner voice. Regardless of your current situation, you must deliberately and constantly have an enabling, success focused internal conversation. You must both say and feel it (if you need help, here is the method). The words, bring about the actions. Not the other way around.

A positive inner voice won’t fix the problem immediately, but it will start the upward spiral. Regular, positive, success oriented internal conversations are not easy (nor is working out at the gym isn’t). But if you commit to doing it regularly, you will break free from failure permanently.

No longer let your inner voice say you are struggling entrepreneur. You are a successful entrepreneur who’s time has arrived. Right now!
