Shouldn’t you want everyone
to do business with you?
Chances are you are better than your competition in multiple ways. Maybe you respond faster. Maybe you are more thorough. Or maybe you simply care more. It is likely true that you are better in some fashion. Do you agree?
If you are better than the competition, prospects must find you. It would be a disservice if they hire a competitor because they never knew you existed.
This was my exact challenge in my own businesses. I knew my computer company was better in multiple ways than my competition. Yet, I wasn’t winning business. I made a few attempts at marketing and they fell flat. So, I simply fell into the trap of depending on client referrals.
Client referrals are great (and are the ultimate acknowledgement of the quality of your service) when they happen. And, they don’t always happen. We more than need a way to consistently gain qualified leads, we have a responsibility for prospects to discover us. Different marketing does that.
There are three steps to effective marketing:
- Differentiate to get noticed
- Attract to engage the right prospects
- and Direct them to take action towards the transaction.
