Imagine you are driving your car to a new destination, a place you have never visited before.  As you travel, you accidentally take a turn that has you going the wrong way on a highway.  For how long would you travel this way?

Not long at all of course.  The oncoming traffic would terrify you.  You would turn around instantly.

Yet, in business when we take a wrong turn we just keep going and going.  Traffic is great, after all!  There’s none.  So we fly on down the road, going the wrong way, further and further from our destination.

Regardless of your businesses traffic conditions, take out your map frequently.  Traveling fast doesn’t matter if you are going in the wrong direction.
