Summer is here! (Hence the sunglasses!) School is out and it’s the perfect time to create a reading list, not just for you, but for the kids in your life. So, I want to mix it up and share some kids books with you. “Why, Mike?” Glad you asked! For one, as an author, I believe in the power of a book. My wife and I started reading with our kids at a young age, and we loved to watch their imaginations grow. Our kids’ ideas and worlds expanded with each book. Reading with your child or giving books in my opinion, is one of the best gifts you can ever give. And it can make their future so bright, they’ll need shades.

To that end, surprise! I decided to start writing a children’s book myself (the first, based off of Profit First concepts, but for kids so we can empower them with cash management skills from the start!). Through my research, I found two books that I love and wanted to be sure I shared them with you.

How to Catch a Unicorn, by Adam Wallace, is engaging and entertaining for kids and adults alike. I love his fun, “how to” style of writing, that kids follow word for word, page by page. This is part of a series of how to catch books. So if your kids are into dinosaurs, mermaids or even leprechauns, you’re in luck. Check him out!

If you read the Wall Street best seller, The Alter Ego Effect, by Todd Herman, you likely wished you knew to follow his guidance way earlier in life. Luckily, you can provide empowerment for kids in your life through his children’s book, My Super Me. This is a wonderful, fun way for kids to learn how to become empowered through building avatars, and finding the hero who already lives inside you. The premise of My Super Me may just carry kids through some challenging times, and who can’t use a little more of that?

Keep reading to or with your kids. Even when they’re older, give them books. You never know what may be unlocked!
