Standing For What You Believe, In Politics and Business with Ken Sim

Sometimes doing what you believe is “the right thing” in business and life isn’t the easiest. There is a fear of being ostracized or cancelled by those that disagree, or losing face in front of others. Ken Sim joins us to discuss being true to yourself in business, and in his case politics, as he runs for the Mayor of Vancouver.

Ken Sim is a 2018 City of Vancouver Mayoral Candidate and the Co-Founder of  Nurse Next Door Home Care Services & Rosemary Rocksalt. His parents moved to Canada in 1967 with three young children. After arriving in Canada, they gave birth to another daughter and then Sim at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He grew up in South Vancouver and attended Churchill and Magee. Today, Sim and his wife Teena are parents to four boys, aged nine to 16. Before becoming a local entrepreneur, Sim’s first job was as a night-shift janitor at Wendy’s; he was 15 when he got the minimum-wage job. Over the next seven years, he worked evenings and weekends at various jobs to help his family and pay for his university education. These days, Sim is known as the entrepreneur behind Nurse Next Door and Rosemary Rocksalt.
