This video? Just a little behind the scenes. Quite possibly the antithesis of what people expect when they visualize an entrepreneur.
It’s not glamorous. At least, not always.
This is reality. I’m not standing in front of my private jet or rented Bently, pretending I have a magic money pill and a three step system to make you rich in a week.
The truth is, most of us will find ourselves tired, doubtful, and stressed between our successes and triumphs. And that’s normal. We all go through it. I’m here, extending my hand to let you know this one thing:
You’re not alone.
I hope knowing that helps. In the times you feel stress, worry or are just plain tired sometimes, or a lot of the times, I invite you to take pause and remember that you aren’t alone. Every entrepreneur, every small business owner, is concerned whether or not they’re “doing it right”. We all get scared about our business. At some point we all feel as though we’re falling short of the competition, or don’t know where the money is going to come from next week. Ooof. Heavy.
What do you do in these moments?
Step I: Take a break and fully disconnect. It could be alone time at the gym, with a book or out in nature. It could be time with family and friends, a walk, a quick trip. Heck, whittle. Whatever calls to you outside of work, go do that for an hour or more and get out of your business head. Hitting that reset button has done me a world of good.
Step II: Get empowered. Find and focus on the few things that serve you better. And when you find those things, you can focus on making incremental improvements. One small step forward will motivate you to take the next one and the next. You don’t have to tackle it all at once.
Step III: Serve this one life you have. Remember to be joyful. Most of us began a business because we wanted to make an impact, to have ease and have joy in our lives. I don’t want your biggest regret to be that you didn’t live the life you envisioned for yourself.
To note: It’s not about someone else’s vision, which we all feel pressure to fulfill at some point. It’s not about competing against other entrepreneurs.
It’s about being the best you, and your business being a reflection of you.
Everyone has challenges. Everyone. Again, and repeat after me, you are not alone.
Keep that big picture in mind. Now go take a walk!
You’ve got this!
-Mike
This was perfect for me on my totally screwed up day that everything fell apart. I needed this. I will go read a book now and tomorrow I will pick myself up, dust myself off and begin again. Thank you!
Mike… awesome as always, much appreciated!
