Giving Part III

I told you one of the organizations I love to donate to. Now it’s your turn!

Drop me a line in the comment section. Do you have any fresh ideas about how we can serve our communities through giving? Is there a cause or entity (outside of your business of course) that you are passionate about? Is there anything you take time to volunteer with or give to?

I wonder if we could collaborate together as a community to give as well. Communities serving communities. I like how that sounds, don’t you?

Let’s remember to look out for each other and those in need in communities around us – and that giving is simply the best gift of all.

Be well my friends!

  1. Hi Mike,

I have been associated with Paul Dunn, of http://www.b1g1.com/businessforgood/ for many years. b1g1.com is a dream come true for Paul, who has worked in association with CPAs and Chartered Accountants like me over the globe.

It is a system of giving where we support those in less fortunate countries.

I would love for you to join us in this dream.

  2. I’ve been working as a professional fundraiser for nonprofits for over 15 years, have a fair amount of education, and a lot of volunteer experience. I’d like to put my fundraising knowledge online, for free. Not fluff, I’m talking downloadable forms, budgets, strategic plan templates, newsletter templates, fundraising/marketing plans, practical things that weren’t covered in fundraising classes in college. (snark) Will include video instruction as well. There’s some of that already online but I want to create a one-stop-shop for smaller nonprofits.

There are two challenges: 1) it’s time consuming and 2) nonprofits don’t know what they don’t know, so they may not get a lot out of my materials. This would help me with SEO, as I’m focusing on creating storytelling videos and photos for nonprofits, but it would help them as well. I’ve worked with a few local nonprofits and while they need this knowledge to be competitive, they don’t know how to use it. Got frustrated doing a lot of work for one or two nonprofits and having that work wasted, so I thought I’d put it all online.

  3. I have always been wanting to help get rid of the trash circles we have created in our oceans, but never knew how I could assist. I recently have found a group that is removing trash on a large scale. 4Ocean not only is working to remove that trash, but they hire local people in each location. In one area the fisherman were having a terrible season, so 4Ocean hired the fisherman to ‘fish’ for trash.
