Read to Lead – Mike’s Likes

My nose is in a book more than I write. It’s true. Because there’s no better way to broaden your mind, as well your business than reading books. I’m willing to bet you’ve derived at least one actionable item from every book you’ve read, even if it was a stinker.

One of the most common questions I receive from people is which book of mine they should read first. As tempting as it is to suggest the next book I’m launching, like, say, Get Different (cough, cough, pre-order, cough), I realize that every business and it’s needs are unique. Whether you’re just beginning your business or you’re a seasoned entrepreneur, there is a book out there for just about everything your business could possibly pertain to. There’s no one size fits all business book, and that can be overwhelming. The best way to know what business book to read next is to identify what your immediate, specific need is in your business. What are your goals? What are the pain points?

Finishing a book, especially for a business owner, can feel like a luxury sometimes. It’s incredibly hard to tune out the millions of distractions, let alone comprehend every word you’re trying to read. One book that has greatly improved how I process what I read is Read to Lead, by Jesse Wisnewski and Jeff Brown. I’ve never read a book like this. It guides you through the different ways we consume knowledge. This book will help you develop a deeper understanding of what you’re reading. Among all of the other positives, that deeper understanding means you will be able to relay that valuable information.

“Reading is the freedom that leads to all other freedoms. Read to Lead will inspire accelerating readership, growth, and entrepreneurship.” – Mark Victor Hansen, bestselling author and cocreator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul, One Minute Millionaire, and ASK! Series
“This book gives you the practical tips and techniques you need to get the most out of every book you choose, making reading extremely valuable and enjoyable.” – Michael Hyatt, New York Times bestselling author, founder of

Make time to read. You’ll never regret it!
